Alma school needs you to make a difference in the world of a child with special needs. Alma School is a registered Non-Profit organisation with Section 18A tax status (tax exemption applicable on donations). The school faces the following challenges: The Department of Education encourages schools to become financially more independent. The state subsidy that the school receive only covers approximately 30% of the running costs of the school. Rising costs of transport and living makes financial survival difficult for our parents and affect their ability to contribute to school and transport fees. Children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds are not to be marginalised, but must benefit from the advantages offered by specialised education. To develop the unique and individual potential of every learner with adapted equipment. To provide learners with assisted devices (e.g. wheelchairs, crutches and other aids to assist independence), special seating arrangements in the classrooms as well as on the buses. Maintenance of old school buildings and gardens. Development of sports facilities for the fast-growing demand. Ensuring continuous and sufficient cash flow to render specialised education and services.  Alma School highly regards our responsibility towards all stakeholders in terms of accountability and feedback regarding their involvement and sponsorships received. This is done by: Official letter of thanks accompanied by photographs of items donated or project executed. Article 18A receipt issued for financial contribution. Submission of a progress report accompanied by photographs of the development for long-term projects (12 month period). Upon completion a final report, proof of expenditure (invoices attached) and photographs are submitted to the stakeholder. Submission of our legal documents e.g. NPO registration, Article 18A tax status etc Submission of BBBEE letter upon request, stating our learner ratios. Hosting of function e.g. unveiling of a plaque, hand-over function etc. Contact the school for community outreach and SCI projects. Corinne Human deputy2@almaschool.co.za
